Skimmers -the box area at the waterline inside the pool that water flows through to the filter
Returns – round plastic pieces in the wall opposite the skimmers that return the water from filter
Main Drain – a safety drain that is used in the floor and in the wall of the pool to reduce suction
Rope and Floats -a rope with integrated floats strung across the pool marking the change in depth
Coping – the border edge around your pool adjacent to the patio
Border – the design strip around the top edge of the liner inside your pool
Poolscape – the patio and landscape area around the pool
Hardscape – the patio of stone, pavers, cement, or substance other than grass, around the pool
Patio Border – the outside edge of your patio away from the pool
Vermiculite Hard Bottom – a mix that is used on the bottom of the pool under the liner
pH – the alkalinity measure of pool water to balance the acid level (necessary to protect equipment)
Alkali – a pH buffer to keep the pool water balanced between basic and acid 7.4-7.6
the ideal range between acid and basic called the comfort zone for swimming pools
Chlorine – bacteria killing agent for pool water
Cyanuric Acid – agent used to reduce the loss of chlorine by UV rays
Algae – microscopic plants that contaminate your pool water
D. E. – diatomaceous earth – a type of filtering agent used in some filters
Water Chemistry – the balance of acidity and alkalinity for optimum swimming & operation of equipment
Filter – equipment used to filter out particles from the pool water
Pump – equipment used to circulate water from the pool through the filter and heater
Time Clock – a device used to automatically run your pump and filter
Summerizing – preparing your pool with chemistry and equipment for summer swimming
Winterizing - closing up the pool for winter by removing equipment and adding chemicals
Auto-Cover – a cover that is a safety cover as well as green in that it can be closed quickly at the push of a button.
Keep the heat in, the chemicals balanced and save on evaporation. Open it when you need it. Close it, lock it, leave it when
you are away or the weather is inclement
